It Began Long Ago . . .

Baieido dates back to the Muromachi period when the founder, Kakuuemon Yamatoya, became a medicinal wholesaler of Japanese style incense in Sakai City, Japan.

In 1657, the owner named himself "Jinkoya Sakubei" and specialized in selling Japanese incense and incense sticks. "Jinkoya" is a name peculiar to Sakai.  They authorized only medicinal wholesalers who specialized in incense to use the name. Jinkoya Sakubei named his shop "Jinsaku" by abbreviating his name.

Jinsaku developed into being one of the three major shops in the industry, along with Jinpachi and Jinwa.
